Grand Haven, population 10,000, is a coastal city on the western shore of the Lower Peninsula of the state of Michigan. It is situated at the mouth of the Grand River where it empties into Lake Michigan roughly 35 miles west of Grand Rapids.
Grand Haven is a beautiful, well-maintained town and an excellent place to live. It is popular destination especially during the summer months making houses in the area a perfect getaway and a valuable rental property. The area is popular for good reason. It features the beautiful Grand Haven State Park, over 100 miles of bike trails, the Grand Haven Musical Fountain, and the Coast Guard Festival.
The state park includes an immaculate soft sand beach and beautiful campground sites right next to the water. Bikers can ride their way across miles of paved bike trails along the lakeshore and across the surrounding flatlands and forests. The Grand Haven Musical Fountain plays daily at dusk from Memorial Day through Labor Day and features a water and light show that is synchronized with a wide variety of music.
The Coast Guard Festival draws over 350,000 people on a yearly basis. The city is affectionately known as “Coast Guard City, USA.” The gathering is designed to celebrate the United States Coast Guard and help people connect with the men and women that patrol, protect, and maintain America’s many water borders. The festival holds a wide array events and activities including a softball tournament, pancake breakfast, multiple musical performances, US Coast Gaurd ship tours, and a culminating fireworks display.
