South Haven is located on beautiful Lake Michigan on the west coast of Michigan’s lower peninsula where the Black River meets the big lake. It has a population of 4,400, and is visited my many tourists especially during the summer months. Originally, South Haven was a port city, and today it is the location of the Michigan Maritime Museum where visitors can learn about the rich marine history of the state, sail on Lake Michigan on a replica square topsail sloop, or cruise up and down Black River.
Residents and visitors can take advantage of the beautiful beach at nearby Van Buren State Park or investigate the charming downtown area that offers a wide array of shops and restaurants. The South Haven Farm Market is open on Saturdays from May-October providing fresh local produce.
Because of its close proximity to Lake Michigan, homes in the region offer stunning views of the water and memorable sunsets to enjoy. A house in the area makes for an excellent escape from city congestion or a lucrative rental property.
